• 5 DANCERS | DANAIDS, Portrayal Close-ups [the set I made in January 2026]:
Five Roman-cast bronze statues copying Greek models.
Believed to represent either the Dancers, or the mythological Danaids [daughters of King Danaus], or water nymphs and other female figures associated with water.
H = 1.5–1.55 m.
Added or inlaid decorative details: copper lips, white bone or ivory discs for the sclera, with rounded grey, blue, or black stones for the iris and pupils.
From the Square Peristyle of the Villa dei Papiri [Ercolano, Campania, Italy].
The 1st c. BC | Early 1st c. AD.
Recovered during the 1754-1756 excavations at Herculaneum.
