.
"Origin : In the Gallery since 1780.
The Statue was given its current head - ancient but not pertinent - towards the end of the 18th century.
The combination of archaizing emphases with formal echoes of a later period is one of the well known in art from the imperial age for its representation of the Palladium, a statue of Minerva brought to Italy by Aeneas.
The style of the drapery dates the Statue to the early Antonine period.
A similar timeframe is also confirmed by the Gorgoneion, an amulet depicting the head of one of the three Gorgons..
In fact, the hair and the type of protome have significant similarities to the Gorgon heads on the armoured statues that can be dated to the first half of the second century AD."
